PSL Agitator Design


The unique design of the PSL agitator is precision designed to eliminate product hold up during discharge. The profiled blades sweep anti-clockwise smoothing and compressing the cake to ensure a unifrom cake void of any cracks. A clockwise rotation will cut into the cake removing small slithers producing a soft dry product which can then be ploughed and discharged.

The agitator blade cross section, tapers down each end and is fitted with two vertical fins at the extremities, enabling high efficiency solids discharge and product movement from the centre of the vessel out towards the discharge hatch. The agitator is a single fabricated component, without any bolted items. The high cGMP design allows for easier cleaning and validation and is fitted and removed from below having taken away the vessel base. This reduces the amount of “top-works” required and also necessary headroom to install and maintain the unit.

The heated agitator is manufactured so that the heating medium reaches the hollow blades of the agitator via integral baffles, ensuring maximum heat transfer capability.
